In 2018, SDC in partnership with WFP is implementing drought recovery program (VFA/VFT project) designed to enable households meet basic food security during this lean season, the project targets 29 villages of Dhagxanya cadde, Roox, laandawaco, Faratooyo, Taracaso, Horogle, Gacnafale, Fardacune, Boone, Darusalam, Bilcil, Godad, Gosol, Dhextaal, Heema, Margaaga, Ceelgardi, Cagaaran, Xarfo, Bacaadweyn, Tuulo Xabiibo, Caday gabogabo, Gaxandhaale, Beyra, Beerdhagaxtuur and Bursalah Villages in Mudug region in Puntland Somalia.
In addition, the project will include three sites namely Rabable, Laac-dhere and Ilma-adeer in Nugaal region, the 3 sites are extension of previous project, it include providing solar systems for shallow wells, construction of water tank and installation of Plastic/nylon lining.
The project expected outcome is to create and produce assets required to cushion and save lives during the drought and other hardships situations including protecting livelihoods by strengthening and mainstreaming the traditional and local coping strategies which empowers households on food security and general well-being.
The activities of that project included Water catchment in Ilma-adeer Village Nugaal region, During rain season in Gu , the Ilmo-adeer village Water catchment received Go rain 🌧 Alhamdulilaahi, it successfully captured full water with a capacity of around 3000meter cubic.
